Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how Pitbull Interactive LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and protects information through the Panel application (the “App”) for iPad. By using Panel, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Device data stored locally — Panel stores your preferences, widget layout, HomeKit device selections, calendar and reminder list preferences, appearance settings, and background choices on your device using standard iOS storage (UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device unless you enable iCloud Sync.

iCloud Sync (optional) — If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings, your app preferences and widget layout are synced across your devices using Apple’s iCloud Key-Value Store. This data is managed by Apple under their privacy policy and is only accessible to devices signed in to your Apple Account.

HomeKit data — Panel accesses your HomeKit home, devices, and scenes through Apple’s HomeKit framework to display device status and execute control commands. HomeKit data is processed entirely on your device and communicated directly with your HomeKit hub. We do not collect, transmit, or store your HomeKit data on any server.

Calendar and Reminders — Panel reads your calendar events and reminders through Apple’s EventKit framework to display them in the dashboard. This data is accessed locally on your device and is not transmitted to any server.

Weather data — Panel uses Apple WeatherKit to fetch weather information for your current location. Location data is sent to Apple’s weather service to retrieve forecasts. We do not collect or store your location data.

Music data — Panel uses Apple MusicKit to display now-playing information and control playback. Music data is processed locally through Apple’s framework.

Spotify data — If you connect Spotify, Panel communicates with Spotify’s Web API to control playback and browse your library. Your Spotify OAuth tokens are stored securely in the device Keychain and are never transmitted to our servers. Playback data is exchanged directly between your device and Spotify.

Photos — Panel accesses your photo library through Apple’s Photos framework to display photo widgets and custom wallpapers. Photos are processed locally and are never transmitted off your device.

Crash reports — We use Firebase Crashlytics to automatically collect crash and error reports, including device model, operating system version, app version, and stack traces. Crash reports do not contain personally identifiable information.

Analytics — We use Mixpanel to collect anonymous usage analytics such as which features are used, screen views, and app session data. Analytics do not include personal information, HomeKit device details, calendar content, or music listening history.

Subscription — Panel offers an auto-renewable subscription processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store your payment information. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or physical address
• We do not collect your precise GPS location (weather uses approximate location via Apple WeatherKit)
• We do not access your microphone or camera
• We do not serve advertisements or share data with advertising networks
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
• We do not collect the content of your calendar events, reminders, or messages
• We do not collect details about your HomeKit devices or smart home configuration

3. How We Use Your Information

• Operate the app — display your dashboard, control HomeKit devices, show weather, calendar, reminders, music, and photos
• Save your preferences — persist your widget layout, appearance settings, and device selections
• Sync across devices — if iCloud Sync is enabled, keep your settings consistent across your iPads
• Improve the app — analyze anonymous usage patterns to guide development
• Fix issues — diagnose crashes and bugs using crash reports

4. Third-Party Services

Panel uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

5. Data Storage and Security

• Local data (preferences, widget layout, device selections) is stored on your device using standard iOS storage mechanisms.
• Spotify tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain with device-only access protection.
• iCloud data (when sync is enabled) is stored by Apple in accordance with their data handling practices and encrypted in transit and at rest.
• Analytics and crash data are transmitted via HTTPS to Mixpanel and Firebase respectively.

6. Data Retention

• Local data remains on your device until you uninstall the app or reset the app’s data.
• iCloud data persists in your iCloud account until you disable sync or remove it manually.
• Analytics data is retained by Mixpanel according to their standard retention period.
• Crash reports are retained by Firebase for 90 days.

7. Your Choices

• HomeKit access — You can grant or revoke HomeKit access in iPad Settings at any time.
• Calendar & Reminders access — You can grant or revoke access in iPad Settings.
• Photos access — You can grant or revoke access in iPad Settings.
• Location access — Weather requires location access, which you can revoke in iPad Settings.
• Spotify — You can sign out of Spotify at any time within the app.
• iCloud Sync — You can enable or disable iCloud Sync in the app’s Settings tab.
• Subscription — You can manage or cancel your subscription through iPad Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions.
• Uninstall — Removing the app deletes all locally stored data, including Keychain entries.

8. Children’s Privacy

Panel does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The app does not require account creation. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
